A Stress-Free Civil Ceremony During COVID-19

Ishani Red Beaded Lehenga

Once the COVID-19 pandemic caused KYNAH bride Nidhi and her husband, Vishwanath, to cancel their large wedding celebrations in India, this hurdle caused the couple to realize the most important part of their celebration: being together. Nidhi looked amazing in her Ishani Lehenga for their last-minute civil ceremony. We are so happy these two were able to celebrate with their family and wish them the best with their future celebrations!

What was your experience like working with KYNAH for your wedding?

Always a fantastic experience! I've ordered twice from KYNAH, one for our original wedding that had to be canceled and then now for our civil ceremony. I'm especially pleased because I am plus-sized. Sometimes, I find that it can be difficult to find Indian clothes that not only fit well, but also accentuate my curves (even when ordering custom outfits), but I have not come across this even once with KYNAH.

Each time I have ordered, Aisha has been so hands-on and understanding that you know that you have nothing to worry about. For our civil ceremony, I requested Aisha to make a few modifications and she provided great feedback on whether it was a good idea or not or how she would recommend modifying it. I'm happy that she did not just go with what I asked because she was right, the final lehenga was perfect. We did have a slight problem close to the end when India went into its second lockdown. I wasn't sure if my outfit would come in time, but somehow Aisha managed to do it. In fact, it ended up coming in a bit earlier than the initial delivery date.

Why did you choose the Ishani Lehenga?

It truly is the best lehenga for a small wedding! The heavy embroidered top contrasts so nicely with the simple and classy skirt. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I also wanted something lightweight for the Las Vegas heat! I love my lehenga so much!

What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?

To be honest, this was not how we planned or expected our wedding to look, but sometimes you have to go with the flow. As with many other couples, we had a large wedding planned in India in 2020, but that had to be canceled due to the pandemic. With the pandemic still on and some other hurdles that came up, we realized that being together was the most important part. As my thouji liked to tell me, the party could always come later. With this, we decided to go intimate, but colorful (hence the rainbow wall and the confetti)! We got married in Symphony Park, LV, in front of the Rainbow Wall, and the location was perfect. We wanted to start this new journey with color and it fit the bill. We were also very thankful that some of our family could join us in our last-minute ceremony.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Surprisingly, we both have not been to Hawaii so we are planning on going there later this year. We're looking forward to the fresh air, beaches, and great views.

Given the chance to do it all again, you would...

This is a great question! While not an ideal situation, it was honestly a perfect day. Since it was a (very last minute) civil ceremony, it did not require much prep at all so it was quite stress-free. A few calls and we had everything lined up from the officiant, hair and makeup, photographer, to the after-wedding celebrations. I knew I could trust KYNAH (and Aisha), so I just placed the order and did not have to check-in. While this is not an approach most couples take, I would actually recommend doing an intimate civil ceremony prior to the bigger celebrations. The simple and intimate civil ceremony really allowed us to be in the moment and enjoy with our families. We are now looking forward to the bigger celebrations with even more family and friends!
