How did you hear about KYNAH? How was your experience working with KYNAH?
I started seeing Instagram ads for KYNAH a few months before I got engaged. Shortly after, KYNAH had a pop-up in NYC, and I managed to get one of the last bridal appointments available. It felt like a sign! The team was wonderful to work with, patiently answering questions about what thread to choose or jewelry to pair with each outfit, and they even recommended local tailors. Given the great experience I had with the team, my husband decided to get his sherwani and groomsmens’ outfits also from KYNAH.
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
I knew going into my appointment that I wanted a Seema Gujral lehenga. But I also wanted a style that wasn’t too heavy, since I’m pretty clumsy. The Palli lehenga was exactly that! I liked a different color and blouse cut than what I tried on, so the KYNAH team worked with me to customize the Palli into the perfect wedding outfit I was envisioning.
Share your favorite memory with your partner.
On the second day of our trip to Hawaii, Prateek broke his ankle on the Road to Hana. After a quick stop at the ER, I learned how to push a wheelchair, and we still managed to enjoy the rest of our vacation drinking slushies by the pool. While this may not have been the vacation we were expecting, we look back at this time fondly because it made us realize how deeply we cared for one another, even during the hard times.
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make your celebration personal to you?
Immediately after our officiant pronounced us husband and wife, that’s when our baraat began. Dancing with our bridal party to an instrumental version of Pepas, played on the dhol and a violin, was a moment we’ll never forget. We really wanted to blend Indian and Western traditions into something special to us, and this was one small way of doing that.
Do you have any advice for brides/brides to be?
I can’t overstate the importance of finding a wedding planner who understands your culture, your vision, and is someone you can truly trust to handle the details, so you can be entirely stress-free on your wedding day.
