Nirat and I met in San Francisco through mutual friends at the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020. Even with the need for social distancing, we quickly sparked a connection and decided to go on a date. He initiated the first date, making his interest clear from the start, while I’ll admit I was initially put off by his “overly confident” demeanor. I definitely made him put in the effort over the next few months, but as time went on, I began to see his genuine character and feel a true sense of safety around him. That’s when our close friendship really began to grow.
Once he had earned my trust and warmth, the ever-patient Nirat took another chance and asked me out on a second date, this time to a Giants game. From there, we kept spending more time together, including the entire Memorial Day weekend at another baseball game and a wine tasting in Napa with friends. That weekend was a turning point, and after that, we never really spent a day apart. Fast forward two years later (after living together for over a year) Nirat popped the question in the city where it all began: at Marina Green, with a rare fog-less view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
