An Engagement Ready for the Big Screen

An Engagement Ready for the Big Screen

We are so happy to share that actor-producer duo Brinda Dixit and Adit Dileep got engaged in October with a stunning proposal. Brinda looked gorgeous in the Karishma Kaftan, which perfectly fit her elegant vision for her engagement. We are so happy that Brinda and Adit got to experience their fairytale engagement, and we wish them all the best in their future celebrations! Congratulations to the lovely couple!

What was the story behind your proposal?

On a sunny morning in October, Adit called to tell me that I had a nail appointment at 10 and a hair appointment at 11 and to get ready for one of the best days of my life. I had a sense that something was going on when he would disappear for mysterious "calls with his parents," when his mom would sometimes stare and smile at me a little too long during our family lunches, and especially when he told me to "be ready for anything" when we reunited during the pandemic from separate coasts! When I was all dolled up and ready to go on the day of our proposal, "A" came and picked me up in an Uber Black, making sure the driver hid this mysterious location he was taking me to. I was smiling from behind my mask, quietly observing and holding hands as our car made its way over the Williamsburg bridge, teasing me through the alleys in Brooklyn till we arrived at the William Vale Hotel. A booked the penthouse suite and set up an amazing, intimate walk-through down memory lane, with some special photos and gifts along the way! After he got down on one knee, he whisked me off to a romantic, glamorous photoshoot with the incredible team at Alchemedia Studios to show off our love (and our style!). We zoomed in our closest family, and finally celebrated with our best friends on the outdoor patio into the evening! It was beautiful and unforgettable, like our own little fairytale!

Why attracted you to the Karishma Kaftan?

When I found the Karishma Kaftan on KYNAH’s website, I just KNEW it was the one! I tried on countless (truly, too many) dresses for this big day, and while they were nice, they didn't feel unique, stylish, or elegant enough. I express myself through my personal style, and the outfit I knew I’d get engaged in had to be in line with that too. So when I happened to scroll upon this soft-pink beauty, I knew this Kaftan would fit the bill. Flattering, regal, and with just the right indo-western style, I was so honored to be dressed in such a fabulous piece for my engagement.

If you had to choose another style, what would it be and why?

I have a soft spot in my heart for anything House of Masaba or Papa Don’t Preach…if I could choose another style I would probably get a fit and flare dress or gown with some kind of vibrant print or intricate handicraft work.

One designer you have your eye on for your wedding...

Only one?! Sabyasachi is just the beginning of our list….

What is it like planning an engagement/wedding during a pandemic?

That is a good question! Thankfully we’re on the side of having a little more time to go before our wedding, but we had so many friends whose plans got pushed back because of the pandemic…we are so in awe of those who have forged ahead and celebrated during this crazy year and a half. We’re starting early so we have as much time as possible since things are getting booked up well in advance. A and I make a great team, and we’re having so much fun creating vision boards of our dream decor, wardrobe ideas, and overall aesthetic. Plus, we’ve got a supportive family and wedding planner helping us every step of the way!
