Vibhuti and Druv weren't able to make it to India for all their friends and family to share in their joy. However, they managed to plan a beautiful intimate Chicago wedding. Vibhuti wore the
Katherine Lehenga, which looked elegant and chic against the fall Chicago backdrop.
Congrats Vibhuti and Druv, the way you two look at each other warms our hearts!! We're so glad to have been a part of your big day, and we can't wait to see what you have in store for your big India wedding!
Our wedding was supposed to be in India on Nov 22nd 2020. Around late July, we decided that we would have to push the India wedding as it was not safe for our friends and family to travel due to covid.
But in October we decided to keep our “India Wedding Date” as the day for our legal wedding in Chicago and hired an officiant to do a small ceremony at home and officially get married.
We still have plans of getting married in India in a proper Indian wedding ceremony but we still have to decide the new dates.
The story of me choosing the Katherine Lehenga is pretty amusing.
I was looking at Indian outfits for my sister in August and I saw the Katherine Lehenga on KYNAH's website and I texted her- “I will wear this for my Chicago Wedding”
She was surprised and responded “When is your Chicago Wedding and what is the plan?!”
I replied “I don’t know that yet! But whatever it is I am wearing this”
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?
At that time Dhruv and I had just rescheduled our India Wedding (Initial date was November 22nd in India) and we knew we would do our legal wedding here in Chicago but we had not decided any details!
This dress was the first thing I decided and that inspired the color tones, theme, decor, bridesmaid dresses and the set up for the intimate wedding.
That’s how I said yes to the dress and I think this dress was beyond perfect for the event. This dress was basically my inspiration for the lavender theme and decor for the wedding.
Did you enjoy planning your wedding?
I enjoyed planning this small personal wedding. The decor, the colors, the cake- All the details and decor was planned by me and Dhruv and our family helped implement our dream.
If you could have invited one celebrity to your wedding, who would it have been?
One celebrity I would have invited for my wedding!!! Haha the only celeb I am obsessed with is Shahrukh Khan. Since I was 10 years old to now! So he will always be my celebrity pick!
If you had to choose one moment from your wedding, what would it be?
My favorite moment from the wedding. When I walked down the aisle and saw the look on Dhruv's face. He was as emotional as me and the way he looked at me made my day :)
