How was your experience shopping with Team KYNAH?
My experience was great! In early June 2021, I went to their popup shop they had in LA. There, I was met with Aisha and Simran from her team. At this point, I was 99% sure I was going to go with the red rose lehenga, but based on my taste and style, Aisha suggested I try on other lehengas she had. Ultimately, I went with the Red Rose, but I so appreciated how patient they were with me as I was making my decision. They definitely wanted to make sure I was 100% happy with what I ordered and that I did my due diligence. Throughout the process (in store and over email), Aisha and Simran were both extremely friendly, patient, communicative, and gave great advice. An added bonus - my sister ended up picking one of the other lehengas (
Ruby Lehenga) I tried on as her reception outfit.
I knew I wanted something funky and/or different for my mehendi. As I was looking through KYNAH's website, I came across the
Hazel Sari and I knew it was going to be perfect for my mehendi! It was a pre-stitched sari style and was the most comfortable outfit to wear while getting my mehndi done. I got so many compliments on it that evening and love that I can wear it for other events as well.
All I knew for my reception was that I wanted to wear an all black lehenga with 3D work. My sister came across KYNAH's website and when I saw the
Red Rose Lehenga I thought it would be perfect! Thankfully, they were able to custom make it be black on black and the quality of the outfit was absolutely stunning. With the outfit, I wore a red lip, and had a white lily in my hair and it was the perfect complement to our reception's "old hollywood glam" theme.
How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.
We met at a mutual friends' wedding and instantly clicked. Him and I are completely opposites! When we travel, I like to get to the gate 10 min before boarding starts while he gets to the airport 10 min before boarding starts. I fill up my gas tank the moment my fuel gauge hits 50 miles while he somehow drives another 15 minutes on 0 miles. Extremely typical of two people in a relationship, however, you never really know what you'll get with him and it makes even the most mundane tasks interesting.
How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?
We got engaged on July 4th, 2019 and started planning our wedding shortly after. Of course, with COVID we had to postpone a couple of times, but ultimately, we had our wedding in December 2021 and the wait was well worth it! We cut down our sangeet and so we were able to do our wedding and reception on two separate days. Additionally, we had an evening wedding and honestly, this was probably the best decision we made. Everyone (including me) at our wedding was well rested and it made for a much more relaxed weekend that even my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly suggest this!
What was your wedding theme/aesthetic?
For our Mehendi, we did Moroccan inspired home decor. As for the wedding,
we had an evening winter wedding and wanted our mandap to feel warm. It was filled with lighted hanging lanterns, edison bulbs, sprinkled in with some greenery.
