As snow gently fell in the West Village, Sheynelle and her fiancé captured magical moments that reflected not just their style, but their deep love and connection. Their intimate wedding in a cozy Brooklyn restaurant was filled with laughter, family, and personalized touches— from specialty cocktails named after them to a menu inspired by their shared love of Portugal. Every detail of the day told a story of passion, friendship, and a love that had stood the test of time.

I’ve followed KYNAH for years and always hoped to order something from them. Once we finalized our wedding date, I knew immediately that I wanted my outfit to be from KYNAH. I initially ordered a sari, and it was absolutely beautiful. However, I struggled with draping it properly, so I reached out to KYNAH. They kindly sent me a video tutorial on how to wear it—which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. I’d never seen a shop go that extra mile before.
Eventually, I realized I’d be more comfortable in a lehenga, especially since we were planning a photoshoot on the cold streets of NYC. Even though it wasn’t their usual policy, KYNAH graciously allowed me to exchange the sari. I’m so grateful— they truly went above and beyond. The lehenga was perfect: super intricate, a flawless fit, and I felt like a princess. I couldn’t have been happier!
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
I absolutely loved the detailing and beadwork— it was so intricate and stunning. The outfit had a beautiful blend of traditional style with a modern twist. The dupatta was breathtaking, and I adored the beading on the sleeves and the fullness of the skirt. The moment I put it on, I smiled instantly— I just felt amazing in it. That’s how I knew it was the one. I could see myself getting married in it without a doubt.
Osh and I have been together for six years. We originally met in high school in Florida but lost touch for nearly a decade. We eventually reconnected on Facebook when he messaged me, and we quickly became good friends. At the time, he was living in NYC and I was still in Florida, so we traveled back and forth visiting each other, meeting each other's families and friends.
After I landed a job in NYC and moved, our friendship blossomed into a relationship. Osh is hilarious (he can make anyone laugh) while I’m a bit more serious. We’re opposites in many ways, but we’re both passionate people who love deeply. We love hosting events and have thrown countless parties in our tiny Brooklyn apartment— everything from a Ted Lasso–themed birthday party to an Oscar night celebration.
Osh proposed four years into our relationship while we were in his home country of Peru. He secretly flew to Florida a week before our trip to tell my family his plan. He arranged for us to hike four mountains and proposed on the fourth one. He even hired a photographer to document the entire experience. I had no idea—it was a complete surprise, especially since we’d always talked about waiting to get married. It was absolutely beautiful.
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
Honestly, every moment was my favorite. We planned and paid for the wedding ourselves and made sure it felt like us in every way. We woke up together and got ready with just my big brother and sister helping us. Then we went to Russ & Daughters in Manhattan to take photos with bagels and French toast because we love food. After that, we wandered through the snowy streets of the West Village with our photographer, capturing magical photos.
We exchanged vows in a tiny restaurant called Dinner Party in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, surrounded by close family and friends. We shared brunch, drinks, and listened to a few heartfelt speeches. We even had specialty cocktails named after us (“Nelle No. 5” and “El Clasico Oshy”) and served pastéis de nata because we both love Portugal. It was such a special day.
