Something Blue: Poppy’s KYNAH Welcome Dinner & Sangeet Look

For Poppy, finding the perfect look for her welcome dinner and Sangeet was all about choosing something that felt modern, effortless, and completely her. As said by Poppy:

I started with skirt sets and lehengas since I was wearing a classic sari for our reception and wanted something different for the sangeet. I tried on a white set from Vvani by Vani Vats first and loved how graceful the draping was. All of her silhouettes are modern and genuinely flattering, but the mirror and pearl embroidery on the set I chose felt like the perfect balance of traditional and contemporary. The dew blue was a fun match for the energy of the evening. I paired the set with the cape at the beginning of the night and then switched to the satin stole when we started dancing!

Did you have a "this is the one" moment when you saw or tried on your KYNAH outfit?
Yes, and it surprised me! I'd been trying on heavier pieces all day, so when I put this one on and saw how effortlessly the skirt and cape draped, I was so impressed. The fabric is soft and moves so fluidly that I stopped thinking about the outfit at all. That was when I knew because I really wanted to feel like myself at our first big event of the weekend!

Did KYNAH introduce you to any ideas or styles you hadn't considered before?

Yes! I was torn between the stole and the cape, and Keerit, my stylist at KYNAH, was like, "Why don't you do both and make it a moment?" It worked out perfectly!

What was the most memorable part of your KYNAH fittings or consultations?
I loved getting a preview of the garment after it was made and before it shipped. It just helped ease the anxiety of ordering a custom piece made all the way in India without having to travel 24 hours to get there!


How did you feel putting on your KYNAH outfit for the first time?
I felt so calm! It was our first proper event of the weekend, and seeing everything and everyone come together was very special. My favorite part was coordinating with my husband and seeing us in the same shade of blue. It felt like we were showing up as one.

What is your favorite photo of you in your KYNAH look, and why?
Our photographer captured a really great moment where I was walking across the stage after my dear family's speech. She really captured the moment and the detail of my outfit!

Having someone coordinate timelines, share photos of the piece in process, and help with styling and ideas was so helpful.

Definitely! It's fun to have both the stole and the cape to style with other dresses and skirts.
