Surrounded by their closest family and friends and blending their West Indian, Muslim, and Gujarati Hindu traditions, Shabana and Amar’s wedding was filled with joy, warmth, and personal touches that made every moment unforgettable.

Tell us about your experience working with KYNAH.
My wedding was truly a KYNAH family affair – Amar, the groom, along with my parents and brother, were all dressed in designers from KYNAH, including Seema Gujral and Arjan Dugal. Shrinal seamlessly managed the design process, overseeing every detail, attending each fitting, and ensuring delivery timelines were met. Keerit was also instrumental, handling extensive communication with the team in India. I’ll never forget Anis Aunty, who personally helped Amar during his fitting and worked directly with Seema Gujral to design and customize a matching stole for his ceremony outfit. As a bride, it’s easy to feel like just another client while shopping for bridal wear – but at KYNAH, you’re given personalized attention and treated like family.
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
Ever since I was a little girl, my mom has always been my stylist, and there was no exception for my wedding. She was immediately drawn to the Nashita Lehenga, and when I saw it in person, I fell in love with the sage green color and stunning design. For my ceremony outfit, I envisioned elegant crystal embellishments paired with a regal long veil and train. KYNAH and Seema Gujral brought that vision to life, customizing a one-of-a-kind piece that felt perfect in every way.
Amar and I met in New York City when I was working as a corporate attorney at a big law firm and he was completing a rigorous medical fellowship. Despite our demanding schedules, we always made time to explore the city together. Under the guise of a delayed Valentine’s Day celebration, Amar led me to Brooklyn and proposed against the city skyline – a backdrop that represents home to us in so many ways. It was incredibly special. 
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
Every single part! There are so few opportunities to bring all of your favorite people from across the world into one room, and that made it unforgettable. Amar and I are both American, but I am ethnically West Indian (Trinidadian and Guyanese) and Muslim, while Amar is Gujarati and Hindu. It was important to us that our wedding reflected both cultures. We exchanged rings and garlands during the ceremony, mixed Bollywood hits with Soca music, served modern twists on classic Indian dishes at our reception, and cut our wedding cake to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole. It was authentically us. Some of my most cherished memories, though, were the quiet moments we shared together—right after the ceremony or just before entering the ballroom for our reception. Those private pauses carried such magical energy and emotion!
That the stress of wedding planning is temporary! Lean on your village of family, friends, and trusted vendors to help you through the highs and lows. While the process can feel overwhelming at times, it’s important to keep perspective and focus on the end goal: celebrating and having the best time with your partner and loved ones.
