Like all good things, through instagram! My experience working with KYNAH was so phenomenal that after I received the Sasha Lehenga which I wore for my Ceremony, I decided that just one Kynah piece was not enough. I then ordered the Gul Lehenga for my reception a few months after my initial purchase. Both lehengas arrived well before the wedding festivities started and to be honest, my favorite part was trying them on over and over until the day finally came. I called them dress rehearsals. I was incredibly in love at first sight with both pieces and knew they would make me feel like the most beautiful version of myself on my wedding day.
I actually had an in-person appointment scheduled with my mom and sisters at a bridal boutique near my home. However, I just could not wait and began searching online for lehengas. I'll be honest, the minute I saw the Sasha lehenga, I knew. I ordered it then and there and just prayed it was my measurements. I had a feeling it would be close enough but knew I could alter if need be. I cancelled all in-person bridal dress appointments. When your heart is set on something, it really just is. I just couldn't picture myself in anything else on my wedding day. It was perfect, almost like God intended I wear that specific piece on my wedding day.
As I was the first one in my family getting married and having a Salvadoran-Pakistani fusion wedding at that, I knew that my wedding theme had to revolve around simply appreciation of culture and my biggest focus was on keeping the event intimate. Desi weddings and intimate don't usually go together in a sentence but the reality is, for my wedding to go the way I wanted, I solely wanted to be around the family and friends I love most. We capped our wedding guest list at just under 60 and danced the night away to the point you'd think it was a room full of 200 people. With how tight knit everything was, I was able to share little Pakistani traditions with my new in-laws and allow them to partake in the festivities in a way where not only did they learn about my background but also really had fun doing it!
Staying by my husband's side all night and experiencing our wedding day together hand in hand. We danced until we couldn't anymore. We ate until we couldn't anymore. We shared the same memories because we were attached at the hip all night. Now, we get to recollect fond memories of the night together for the rest of our lives.
An open bar was a non-negotiable! There is no one happier than a girl on her wedding day listening to her curated reception playlist with a margarita in her hand. We're also big foodies and considering we're from Maryland, we're big on seafood: Crab cakes were a MUST!
