Love & Culture: Zack and Disha's Special Day

Love & Culture: Zack and Disha's Special Day

In the heart of LA, Disha's wedding journey with KYNAH was nothing short of enchanting. From her initial visit with her sister to finalizing her dream outfit with her parents, Disha felt embraced by the intimate and supportive team at the boutique. Her vision of a fusion-style lehenga that blended her South Asian heritage with her American roots came to life with the Sasha Lehenga, a modern yet traditional choice that instantly won her over. With a heartfelt proposal under the starlit sky of Mauna Kea and a wedding that celebrated both cultures, Disha's story is a beautiful testament to love, personal touches, and unforgettable moments.

Our beautiful KYNAH bride Disha, was truly glowing in the Sasha Lehenga by Seema Gujral! Congratulations to this lovely couple - the KYNAH team couldn't be happier for the both of you!

As said by Disha:
How did you hear about KYNAH? How was your experience working with KYNAH?
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
I knew from the moment I started planning, I wanted a fusion style lehenga for our Western Ceremony that represented both my South Asian heritage and my American upbringing. The Sasha Lehenga immediately stood out to me with its intricate beading and silhouette. It was perfect - modern, sleek, clean and South Asian all at once. As soon as we walked out of the store, my dad leaned over to my mom and said "she's going to pick the Sasha." And my dad was right!
How did your partner propose? Tell us more about the relationship!
Zack and I have been together since 2014, our third year in college. We moved out to LA from Philadelphia together in 2017 and marriage was never really something we discussed. After almost 10 years together (and two dogs), marriage finally started feeling like a reality Zack proposed to me in May 2023 on the Big Island of Hawaii on top of Mauna Kea. We were stargazing and in the pitch black he managed to surprise me (which is truly, TRULY, impossible) with the ring. I started crying immediately and the answer was always yes!
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
We had a two day wedding, one was a traditional South Indian Ceremony and the second day was our Western Ceremony. My favorite part of the wedding was having all our friends and family from all over the country in one place experiencing both cultures so deeply. My friends had never been to a Hindu Wedding and all the girls and guys wore saris and kurtas for the first time. On the other hand, my family had never been to an American style ceremony and were so excited to hear our vows. We added so many personal touches, but my favorite was our cake topper. Zack and I took polaroids of each other during our photo session and we put them on top of the cake. Zack looked very handsome in his polaroid! We also custom designed our invitations ourselves and took pictures of our venue which were then created into watercolor paintings. Zack printed our entire invitation suite himself! It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding. Additionally, our wedding day 06.28 is also my Grandma and Grandpa’s wedding date, they would’ve been married for 60 years. This connection made the day even more special and meaningful!
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started planning your wedding?
I don't know where to start! I wish I knew to be more flexible and to plan ahead of time. So many small details didn't even matter during the wedding and even if something happened that I didn't want, it didn't matter! All I felt was the pure love and joy from our guests. Also to have a plan for cleaning up. We had to load our cars at 1 AM and should've designated the job to different people instead of just ourselves. Eating was also so difficult but that was because I was so nervous!
