Anna’s KYNAH Bridal Moment: A Modern Wedding Rooted in Love and Tradition

Anna discovered KYNAH through friends and found the perfect white Ridhi Mehra lehenga at their NYC pop-up—an elegant, pearl-beaded piece that beautifully balanced Indian and Western traditions for her Anand Karaj. She and her partner, Samarth, first connected on Hinge during the pandemic and later got engaged with a custom-designed ring in an intimate moment at home. Their wedding was filled with heartfelt personal touches, including a memorial to honor Samarth’s late mother and a wall of family wedding portraits used as a backdrop for their varmala exchange. Though the logistics were challenging, Anna found joy in being surrounded by loved ones from every chapter of life. With KYNAH’s thoughtful support and a vision rooted in meaning, Anna’s wedding was a stunning celebration of love, heritage, and togetherness.

Our beautiful KYNAH bride Anna was glowing in the Mir Lehenga Set by Ridhi Mehra and the Nude High-Low Sharara Set by Seema Gujral! Congratulations to this lovely couple - the KYNAH team couldn't be happier for the both of you!

As said by Anna:

Tell us about your experience working with KYNAH.

What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
How did your partner propose? Tell us more about the relationship!

We somehow miraculously matched on Hinge in 2020 during the pandemic. At the time, Samarth had set his dating radius to just 2 miles while living in Boston—meanwhile, I was over 50 miles away in Providence for medical school! Fast forward four years, and he proposed with a ring we had designed together with a jeweler friend back in India. We celebrated with some champagne in our apartment, just the two of us and our cat, Jeera. It was low-key and exactly how I wanted it—right before what I lovingly call our “Big Fat Indian Wedding.”

What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
My favorite part of the wedding was having all my closest friends and family there with me. It was truly incredible to see people from so many different chapters of our lives—childhood, school, university, and work—meeting, mingling, and forming new connections. What made it even more meaningful was knowing that many of them had traveled thousands of miles to be there for us. One particularly special touch was how our wedding planner, Mansi from Blush Decor, brought some of our design ideas to life. One of my favorites was the wall of family wedding portraits I had compiled, complete with names, their relationship to me or Samarth, and anniversary dates. After our Sikh ceremony, we used this as the backdrop for our varmala exchange to honor Samarth’s mother who was Hindu and passed away in October 2023 from breast cancer. We also had a memorial for her during our Haldi, featuring photos of her alongside a large floral Ganesh. It was a beautiful way to remember her presence and spirit on such an important occasion.
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started planning your wedding?
I spent a lot of time worrying about others— booking flights, figuring out hotel pickup, arranging childcare etc. I became very heavily involved in managing logistics for our guests traveling internationally and ended up being the main point of contact for almost everything leading up to the big day. As the wedding approached, this became increasingly stressful and difficult to manage. Eventually, once the festivities began, I had to accept that not everything would go exactly as planned (e.g. DJ cancelling last minute)—and that was okay. For anyone planning a wedding, especially an Indian wedding with its multiple events and complex cultural traditions, I strongly recommend hiring a wedding planner team early on and making sure that they handle both design and logistics elements. Having that help can make a huge difference in your ability to be present and enjoy the celebration. Surround yourself with people who support you, trust the process, and don't sweat the small stuff.

If you and your husband could have invited any celebrity to your wedding, who would it be and why?
Tough question! We both love comedy, and we recently saw Zarna Garg perform stand-up live in Boston—she was absolutely hilarious. I think she'd be a total hoot to have at a wedding given her hilarious takes on everyday life and family dynamics. She’d definitely keep the energy high and the guests laughing. Plus, I imagine she’d give an unforgettable speech.
