What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?
Fusion garden party. My parents are from India, and we had our wedding in Memphis (my husband's hometown). We wanted to give a nod to both cultures while staying true to our own vision for the day.
If you had to choose one moment from your wedding day, what would it be?
It's so hard to choose-- honestly, we just feel lucky to got to have the wedding we planned.
If you did it all again, would you wear the same ensemble?
Honestly, I wish I got a full outfit from KYNAH! I wore my mother's wedding sari for the wedding ceremony and then changed into a white dress for the reception. I really liked the idea of wearing a family heirloom, but honestly, a tissue sari is really heavy and hard to wear. Also, my mom had a blouse made in India but it didn't fit and no tailor could fix it. I desperately reached out to KYNAH for a replacement blouse two weeks before our wedding. Aisha literally made magic happen and overnighted a blouse to Brooklyn. Miraculously, it fit, was beautiful, and matched the sari perfectly. I learned my lesson and got a KYNAH lehenga for our India reception in December.
What’s one piece of advice you have for other brides/brides-to-be?
You can't make everyone happy during wedding planning so just go with what feels right to you. Everyone will be so happy on your wedding day that they will forget that they ever disagreed with your choices.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Tuscany! It was such a memorable trip-- especially the time we spent at Hotel Il Pellicano.
