A Rustic Engagement Photoshoot In Colorado's Rocky Mountains

We are so excited to share the beautiful engagement of Sruthi and Anuj in the breathtaking Colorado Rocky Mountain National Park. Sruthi wore the stunning Sabena Lehenga for it's delicate lace features and gorgeous flowing skirt. We are thrilled to have been a part of this special day. Congrats to Sruthi and Anuj on their beautiful engagement!

How did you and your husband meet?

My husband and I met at the beginning of my freshman year in college at Carnegie Mellon University on an Indian dance team (such a cliche, I know). We dated throughout college and knew from the beginning we were in this long term, and he proposed soon after I graduated!

Tell us a little bit about the photo shoot, what was the inspiration behind it?

We both love spending time outdoors, and spent many summers exploring America’s national parks, so we naturally wanted a scenic backdrop for our engagement photos. I found a photographer I loved based in Colorado, and since we had always wanted to travel there anyways, we used our engagement photos to also visit Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park.

How did you find KYNAH?

I found KYNAH on Instagram while I was looking for modern South Asian outfits, and I really resonated with the brand, from the bright photography to the simplicity of the outfits.

Why did you choose this particular look?

I wanted a fusion of South Asian and American styles - since I wasn’t planning on wearing a white dress to my wedding, I thought a nice compromise would be a white lehenga for my engagement shoot. I was looking for something flowy and lacy, and the Sabena Lehenga caught my eye immediately.  I saw some other girls on the KYNAH instagram wearing it, and saw that it photographed really well. I also wanted something that looked modern and not dated, and loved how simple yet elegant the Sabena lehenga was. It ended up being really versatile - I ended up wearing the skirt with a lace crop top for my civil ceremony later that year!

What is your biggest piece of advice to other brides when planning their engagement shoot, wedding, etc?

My biggest piece of advice to other brides is to create a moodboard for your wedding or engagement shoot so you have a solid idea of what you’re looking for in terms of photography poses, outfits, and locations. South Asian weddings in particular have so many options in terms of colors, decorations, invitation styles, and events so it was really helpful for me to have a unified idea of what I wanted. My other bit of advice is to plan as much as possible beforehand so you’re not stressed on the day of, but expect things to go wrong. I was so calm during my wedding day because I knew everything at that point was out of my hands.
