We are so excited to share KYNAH bride, Kinnary, and her husband Tyler’s wedding ceremony in Virginia. Kinnary wore the Basil Outfit for her haldhi (pithi) ceremony and the Katherine Lehenga for her wedding ceremony. We love how Kinnary focused on reflecting the traditions of both her own and her husband’s cultures through her outfit choices. For her haldhi ceremony, she loved the bright green and yellow colors in the Basil Outfit as they spoke to her family’s Indian heritage. Kinnary chose the Katherine Lehenga for her wedding ceremony because of its incorporation of the color white reflecting the tradition of brides wearing white in her husband’s culture. Kinnary looked gorgeous in both looks, and we are so happy to congratulate these two!
Working with KYNAH, and especially Aisha, was seamless. Aisha was so quick to reach out and prioritize my vision for this special day, and we quickly connected after I learned more about KYNAH's origins. Before meeting with Aisha, I'd always scroll through the website to see new designers and pieces; prior to wedding planning, I had only dreamed of wearing the outfits on the KYNAH site. Without KYNAH and Aisha, my dream wedding would've stayed just that, a dream.
Why did you choose the Basil Outfit and Katherine Lehenga?
The Basil outfit is incredibly gorgeous. The moment I saw it, I knew it reflected my heart, and I was determined to incorporate its fun elements into the rest of my wedding ceremonies. The vivid green and yellow hues, the spunky yet polished floral print, and the retro yet trendsetting fit all are very unique, and were the main reasons I still, a month later, receive compliments on the outfit. Since I had a fusion wedding week, I wore the Basil outfit for my haldhi (turmeric) event. While many brides don yellows and golds for this event, I felt the most beautiful customizing this event to be memorable by wearing this gorgeously colored outfit. The Katherine Lehenga... even writing about it leaves me speechless. The blouse captured my attention immediately, and after Aisha happily agreed to alter the skirt to wear as flared pants, I knew this outfit was made for me. I was able to be the fusion princess bride I've always wanted to be! In terms of the chunni for the Katherine Lehenga, I'm vastly impressed by its femininity. There were a thousand right ways and absolutely zero wrong ways to drape this onto the rest of the outfit. The confidence and love I had for myself were at their highest when I was in my Katherine Lehenga. The perfect aspect of both of these outfits is their versatility. Typically, brides only wear their wedding outfits once, but I'm so proud of the fit, style, and sheer beauty of these pieces and already plan on wearing them for future formal events.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?Going into wedding planning, I had no idea what type of aesthetic I wanted to build for myself, my husband, and my guests. Being a classic yet modern woman posed some challenges as I had to accommodate not only the fusion elements of my wedding, but the traditions and colors of my heritage and culture. After speaking with Aisha and picking out my two KYNAH outfits, everything else fell into place organically: my aesthetic ended up being a marriage between vibrancy and delicacy. I made my family proud by wearing colors that spoke to our Indian roots, and I made my husband's family proud by wearing colors that embellished the beautiful hybrid nature of my future as his wife. I love how KYNAH made this possible with its expansive and ever-growing options.
What was it like planning your wedding during a pandemic?
Planning a wedding during the pandemic was, shockingly, not as difficult as it sounds. I'm not a wedding planner, so I don't have much to compare this experience to, but being able to video chat with Aisha and maintaining communication with KYNAH via email felt so easy and comfortable, I rarely stressed about the details. The big picture was always: I'm in love and I want to share the beginning of this lifelong journey with those closest to me.
My wedding was a stream of moments that captured unconditional happiness and gratitude. To choose one is unfair to the rest of them, but the look on my husband's face when he and I first saw each other that afternoon still takes my breath away. There was so much love radiating from my husband when he saw me, and I felt his adoration, amplified, from then onward. Sure, my makeup artist has an unprecedented level of talent, but his eyes, the way he looked at me, was a culmination of all the thoughtful details from KYNAH's end.
