Once you know, you just know! Medha Sataluri elaborates on her love story that started in a small bar at Ohio State to finally ending the long distance with a move to Chicago. She tied the knot in the Blue Mirror Isabella Lehenga, which was a perfect match for her wedding in the Windy City. The KYNAH team was thrilled to be a part of perfecting Medha's big day! We wish these two a lifetime of love and happiness!
How was your experience shopping with team KYNAH?
My experience was incredible. My sister was a huge part in this as she also got her bridal lehenga from KYNAH! I am usually a very organized person but I waited until 3 or so months before my wedding day to find my lehenga. For any other company, that would be close to impossible, however KYNAH was able to work directly with me to get me my lehenga a few weeks before my wedding! Additionally, I was able to customize the sleeves and and my exact measurements which was amazing! It fit me perfectly!
I will receive my Ruby Lehenga in June or so for my July reception can’t wait!
At first I was worried about wearing a frozen blue color to my wedding instead of the traditional white or red. However the second my sister found the Blue Mirror Isabella Lehenga on the KYNAH website (and on Arshia Moorjani’s Instagram page - she looked stunning!), we knew it was perfect. I received my wedding lehenga 4 weeks before my wedding in beautiful packaging and directions to care for the lehenga. I never imagined I would feel so beautiful in a wedding dress (also because I never tried it on in person!), however, the custom measurements were perfect and I had no issues with how it fit. On my wedding day, I felt beautiful and confident!
How did you meet your husband? Tell us a little bit about your relationship.
Sunny and I met at Ohio State in 2014. Actually, I saw him at a bar on campus and I told my friends I would marry him someday! They convinced me to go talk to him, I asked if I could buy him a drink and the rest is history! So glad I took a chance! Sunny is an emergency medicine resident, so our relationship has been long distance the majority of the time! I moved to Chicago, IL in August 2020 during his second year of residency at Cook County Hospital’s Emergency Department and have loved every second being in the same city!
How did you start planning your wedding? What were the first steps?
Sunny and I got engaged in May 2021 (another perfect day). Being two different religions (Hindu & Sikh) we wanted to pay respect to religions/culture/families while also having an intimate and short ceremony. We ultimately landed on a non-religious ceremony with just our immediate family! The day before our ceremony, we received blessings at both the Hindu temple & Sikh gurudwara which was such a beautiful experience seeing our families come together. The ceremony was exactly what we wanted: short, intimate & personal with Sunny’s cousin/best friend as our marriage officiant.
We plan to have a bigger reception in the future with all of our friends & loved ones but we are so thrilled we were able to have this sweet, intimate ceremony!
What was the idea behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?
There was no true theme as Chicago weather is truly unpredictable. March 12th was the coldest day (even though the next day was over 50°!) of the month so it turned out to be a Chicago winter vibes wedding, completed with my icy blue lehenga. Florals were dreamy & romantic with all white florals & greenery.
