How was your experience working with KYNAH?
I worked with Kynah to find a reception outfit for my wedding, and it was such an easy and seamless process from beginning to end. I visited the store in-person and had such a great experience trying on different styles and brands. The in-store team are the ultimate hype women! They helped me narrow down the exact color that I wanted, but I didn't yet find the perfect lehenga. After emailing back and forth with Shrinal and sharing my vision, she gave me the idea of customizing a lehenga she thought I would like in the color that I wanted. Her suggestion was perfect and exactly what I was going for! I went with her recommendation, and could not have been happier with my choice. It was truly the reception outfit of my dreams and it was all thanks to the Kynah team and their dedication to helping you find something that perfectly matches your vision.
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
How did your partner propose? Tell us more about the relationship!
My husband Nick and I met at work; we started as coworkers who became friends who then started dating. A couple months into our relationship, we were celebrating a friend’s birthday at a restaurant overlooking Pier 26 in New York City and that’s when we first talked about getting married (even though it was objectively way too early to talk about marriage). Three and a half years later, Nick brought me back to Pier 26 under the guise of a new art installation and proposed. We then went into the restaurant to “grab a celebratory drink” and our families and friends were all waiting inside to celebrate with us. It was such an incredibly special day, and Nick pulled off the greatest surprise of all time!
We got married at a resort in Playa Mujeres, Mexico and my favorite part of our wedding (apart from getting married) is that we had all of our family and friends staying in one place for several days. It allowed us to spend quality time with each of our guests and really soak in the love and support of everyone who came to our wedding. My husband is from New Hampshire and comes from a Catholic family, and I’m Indian-American and grew up in New York. We wanted to take all the different parts of both of our identities and upbringings and bring them together in our wedding celebrations to reflect the two of us individually and as a couple. Across all our wedding events, we had music, food, traditions, decorations, and outfits that represented both of us and even incorporated Mexican elements to pay homage to the location. Our wedding truly captured who we are and the beauty of bringing two cultures together.
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started planning your wedding?
That all the planning would be so so so worth it. We put so much thought, time, and effort into planning our wedding to make it the best possible experience for our guests and exactly what we wanted. We knew it would be amazing, but it exceeded our expectations tenfold. Our wedding week was truly the best week of our lives.
If you and your husband could have invited any celebrity to your wedding, who would it be and why?
Hands down John Mayer. We both love John Mayer, and we had already decided back in our first few months of dating that our first dance song was going to be XO, which is a cover of a Beyonce song that John Mayer does. Since then, we’ve been to two John Mayer concerts together, including one exactly 1 year before our wedding day, and he is our go to music on long road trips. Having John Mayer sing XO live for our first dance would have been truly unreal, but it was perfect nevertheless!
