A Beauty in Red

A Beauty in Red
This beauty in red, Anjali Kuchibhatla, blew us away in the Tarini Lehenga! Anjali and Alex united their American and Indian cultures in a classic, and modern way. A celebration of love filled with 80’s rock music, food trucks (and, of course, Butter Chicken) and to top it off, a mandatory Bollywood dance-off in a vintage barn. Most importantly, it was an occasion enriched with everyone they loved at their side.
As said by Anjali:
How was your experience shopping with Team KYNAH?
My experience with KYNAH was truly seamless. I started with a virtual consult, which really helped me narrow my ideas down, but I really felt like I needed to try the dresses on. Fortunately, I was able to make an in-person appointment and fly to the LA store to try the dresses on! Simran was extremely helpful and patient, helping me into each dress, talking through the various customizations that could be done, and helping me through my wedding timeline! KYNAH was even able to send me swatch options of my custom color to my home in Boston so I could see it physically before it went into production. Simran and team KYNAH were communicative throughout the entire process, responsive by email when I had numerous questions, and continued to update me on the progress of my dress all the way until the point I signed for the package!
One strong recommendation: If you can follow team KYNAH’s recommended timeline, you will not have to worry at all about your dress coming in on time and it being exactly the way you imagined it. I didn’t even have to get it tailored locally before the event, it fit me that perfectly.
Why were you drawn to the custom Tarini Lehenga? What made you say "Yes!"?
I knew I wanted a monochrome/tone-on-tone style that was classic and modern. Everything I saw elsewhere was either not my style or way outside of my budget. When I came across KYNAH’s website (Thanks to my (now) sister-in-law!), I knew they would have the style concept I was looking for. Before my in-person appointment, I had a few different dresses from KYNAH’s website bookmarked, but the one dress I didn’t even think to look at was the Tarini Lehenga. In fact, Simran was the one who recommended I try it on during my appointment just based on my description of my perfect dress! As soon as I saw the lights in the store hit each sequin on the dress, my parents and I knew it was the one. It was so understated yet classic, all at the same time.
What is one moment from your big day that you will never forget?
We had a traditional South Indian ceremony, during which there are a few different moments where the couple plays some “competitive games” for a bit of newlywed fun! But my favorite moment was when the priest threw a ring into a pot of water, and whoever found the ring was the winner! Well, my husband and I were so excited and competitive that the water spilled everywhere each time, soaking us both, which was well needed on a hot, 90-degree day in Maine! Everyone had a blast cheering us on and it was a great way to get the whole family involved in the ceremony. 😊
What was the inspiration behind your wedding theme/aesthetic?
Coming from different cultural backgrounds, our husband Alex and I wanted to make our wedding weekend a perfect balance of our American and Indian cultures in a classic, modern way. From 80’s rock music and food trucks for lunch, to a Bollywood dance-off and butter chicken for the evening reception in a beautiful barn, it was truly an American Indian fusion celebration with everything and everyone we loved.
If you could've invited one celebrity to your wedding, who would it have been and why?
My husband and I actually talked about this exact thing right before our wedding! We agreed: If Dulé Hill, James Roday (if you know, you know), or Justin Timberlake showed up at our wedding, you would have definitely caught one or both of us freaking out for the rest of the night.
