How was your experience working with KYNAH?
I felt like I was in heaven the moment I walked into my appointment at KYNAH and saw all the colors and sparkles! I had so much fun trying on lehengas, it was a really special experience to share with my mom and mother-in-law and the sales associates were excellent hype women. Working with KYNAH made it so easy to customize the blouse cut on the lehenga I chose so it looked exactly the way I wanted, and when it arrived it fit like a glove. I had such a great experience that we went back for my partner's sherwani and for my welcome party outfit!
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
The Neon Multi-Colored Sequin Lehenga by Seema Gujral was actually the very first lehenga I tried on, and I was absolutely in love with the bright colors and geometric pattern. It felt so unique and modern, which is exactly what I was looking for.
How did your partner propose? Tell us more about the relationship!
It was very important to my partner Aaron that the proposal be a surprise, which was a very hard thing to pull off considering we had talked a lot about getting engaged and even started looking at wedding venues. I fell in love with this one-of-a-kind teal sapphire ring and noticed one day that it had sold, and when I mentioned it to Aaron he seemed to feel so genuinely bad that I bought his story of waiting too long to buy it. He proposed with that exact ring when we were on a weekend getaway in Malibu, and managed to completely surprise me! It was perfect, even though I now have to reckon with the reality that he can in fact keep a secret from me :)
It's so hard to choose one favorite part! I think a high point was definitely the moment right after our vow ceremony when we went to the back room of our venue to sign our marriage license with our two best friends (who served as our officiant and our witness). Aaron had brought a batch of our favorite Negronis from home for the four of us to share, and I was on such an adrenaline high from how beautiful Aaron's vows were. It was a really lovely intimate moment to take it all in together before rejoining the party and celebrating for the rest of the night.
What is one thing you wish you knew before you started planning your wedding?
We had a traditional Hindu ceremony in Malibu in the morning and then a vow ceremony and reception that same evening in DTLA, and I was nervous going into it that I would be so tired by the evening ceremony that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the party to the fullest. If I could go back I wouldn't spend any time worrying about that, because all the joy of the day gave me so much energy! We went until midnight and I probably could've spent at least another hour on the dance floor.
If you and your husband could have invited any celebrity to your wedding, who would it be and why?
We love live music so if we could've had Khruangbin come play our first dance song live I think that's the only thing that would've made our wedding even better than it was.
