This dreamy and magical wedding celebration is definitely straight out of a fairytale! How did you hear about KYNAH? How was your experience working with KYNAH?
I first came across the brand on social media, through Laila Khan, a friend of Aisha's who had worn one of the outfits.
What about the Radha Lehenga stood out to you? How did you customize it to create your vision?
I tried on a few lehengas in the store. My now husband and I knew we wanted my lehenga to be black, so Simran helped me try on a few that could be customized. When I tried on the Radha, the mirrors everywhere was a look I hadn't seen before - and it immediately captured us both. We loved it and customized the top for a more conservative look - sleeves, peplum, etc.
How did he propose? Tell us more about your relationship!
Maaz proposed to me in the park he first approached me in years prior. This was during the peak of COVID, so he got creative hosting outside and having one of my favorite singers, Samica, sing the same song he sang to me the night he told me he loved me. She sent in the customized video, and he had a tech team put up a monitor display for me to watch and hear as he got down on one knee.
What was your wedding theme/aesthetics?
In true South Asian fashion, we had a few events. Our Mehndi was Bollywood Disco themed. Our Shaadi was Mehfil themed, as our friends and family performed throughout the program. And then our Valima was 1920s themed, hence the Radha Lehenga in Black, and hosted on NYE as our guests celebrated the countdown to 2022 with us.
Do you have any advice for brides/brides-to-be?
Focus on style over work. So many brides get sucked into wearing heavy outfits and heavy dupattas that completely drown you out. With my petite frame and care for my neck, I focused on accessorizing all my outfits and having light dupattas that could stay secure but look elegant all night long. And now, I have three outfits I could feasibly mix and match to wear again versus something that will just hang in my closet unused forever. I also got lehenga cholis for each of mine. This allowed for two things: 1) I was comfortable while getting ready all day wearing my choli with sweats. 2) I'm going to reuse my cholis as saree blouses.
