We all needed to see this fun and exciting Sangeet! The vibes, the aesthetics, and the overall ambiance perfectly describes the nature of this power couple. The gorgeous Earthy tones mixed with the bold and bright colors are truly one of a kind. In Aisha Rao's Green Divergence Lehenga, our stunning KYNAH bride Shayna looked like a total queen standing next to her king. Congratulations to this lovely couple - the KYNAH team is honored to have been a small part of your big day. We couldn't be more happier for the both of you!
As said by Shayna:
How did you hear about KYNAH? How was your experience working with
KYNAH?
When I was shopping for my Sangeet lehenga, all of the designers I was interested in were carried by KYNAH! My experience working with KYNAH was
great. I live in Brooklyn, but I was in town in LA one weekend so I was
able to try things on in store - the space was great, Layan was so helpful and it was like a dream to try on so many beautiful pieces. Every step of the way, KYNAH was responsive and helpful - we had a zoom call to talk through exactly what I was looking for based on what I had tried on, and once I decided, they were there to answer all of my questions, to help me customize my blouse, and anything else I needed.
How did you know the Green Divergence Lehenga was the one for you? What about it stood out to you the most?
I knew I wanted an Aisha Rao lehenga because her designs felt like a marriage of my husband and my stories and culture - Aisha Rao is based in Hyderabad, where my husband is from, and the earthy, ethereal designs remind me of the woods in the Pacific Northwest, where I’m from. I knew the Green Divergence Lehenga specifically was the one when I put it up against the pink wall of our venue and saw the way the colors worked together- it was bright and fun, which was exactly the energy we wanted to bring to our wedding weekend.
What is one moment from your wedding you wish you could go back to?
All of the performances at the Sangeet - Prad and I danced to Naatu Naatu from RRR, my family did a drum line, Prad’s family did skits and dances, and it was so fun learning and performing a Bollywood dance with my friends. The highlight for me was probably the dance my husband and his friends did - they went full Bollywood fusion and kicked it off with a staged football play, which led to a dance off, and ended with my husband signing the football and handing it to me. It was so special to kick off the weekend with so much joy and laughter.
What was your wedding theme/aesthetics?
We wanted the weekend to feel like a celebration not just of us, but of our families, friends and the cultures we came from. To do this, we chose to do events from each of our cultures - we had a sangeet, a fusion ceremony, and
a western wedding reception. Throughout the weekend of events, we wanted our cultures and all of our favorite places to be represented aesthetically, and for it all to feel light and joyful. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Prad grew up in India and in Northern California, and we have spent most of our 10 years together in California, so for colors we chose bright, fun Indian colors like pink and orange and paired those with earthy sage greens and blues to represent the PNW. We had cocktails for each of our cities, and oranges on the tables to represent California. At the ceremony and reception, we wore western clothes with Indian jewelry to represent the fusion of our families, our cultures, and our lives. It was bright, colorful, and joyful all around!
Do you have any advice for future brides/brides-to-be?
Don’t sweat the details too much - people are just happy to celebrate with
you!
