Jennifer’s love story is as bold and unforgettable as her bridal look. A Bengali and Puerto Rican bride with a passion for tattoos and self-expression, she traveled west to KYNAH and immediately felt at home. From finding the outfit on a hanger meant for someone else to a heartfelt proposal in the very tattoo studio where she and her husband met, every part of her journey is filled with meaning, love, and personal touches that made her wedding day truly her own.

Amazing from start to finish! A big, big shoutout to Shrinal because when I tell you I’ve never felt so welcomed and accepted, I mean it. We vibed! And my dad loves her!
My journey started in New Jersey, where I didn’t feel welcomed, maybe because of my tattoos or because I “didn’t look brown enough,” I suppose. I’m Bengali and Puerto Rican, but it felt like people just didn’t want to give me the time of day. I would get stared down constantly. Then I found KYNAH on Instagram, took a risk, and went west for the first time and fell in love. The entire staff was so warm and informative. Shrinal made the experience easy and straightforward. No question ever felt annoying, and for that, I truly thank her and I thank you all.
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
I hate shopping, so when I see something I like, that’s it. I saw the outfit hanging where someone else was supposed to try it on so I waited patiently. The second I put it on, I felt like a queen.
He proposed at the place where we first met, the tattoo studio where he works (and now, we both work!).
Ten years later, on our way to NYC for some tattoos, I wanted to grab my headphones, so we stopped by the shop. That’s when he said, “Actually, I do have a gift for you.” He gave me a little box, and when I opened it, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He got down on one knee and proposed (both of us in tears) while someone kept yanking on the door trying to get tattooed. I ugly cried and yelled, “Go away, I’m being proposed to!” Haha.
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
Aside from joining my habibi at the altar, my favorite part was walking down the aisle with both of my parents who hadn’t seen each other in over 15 years. Seeing them dressed up and having an amazing time made it a dream. To make the wedding personal, we “hardstyled” with our wedding party (it’s a Philly thing). We included a portrait of our late friend who played Cupid for us, and we even made big cutouts of our cats’ heads so they could join the party. Oh and custom socks with their little faces, of course.
If you and your husband could have invited any celebrity to your wedding, who would it be and why?
Before my husband could answers... Pedro Pascal, of course! Need I explain why? Come on, ladies, haha. My husband said Paul Rudd as Arnold Schwarzenegger. So… there’s that.
