Kynah bride, Shilpa Thakar, shares a story that proves everything happens for a reason! She was able to secure her dream dress with Kynah just in time for the big day. She looked absolutely stunning in the Avani Lehenga for her wedding ceremony and we were so happy to be apart of the day. Congratulations and the happiest wishes to the happy couple!

The KYNAH team were the equivalent of fairy god-sisters. I had my eyes on

a few KYNAH lehengas for my wedding at the Fig House in Los Angeles

in July, but with COVID and uncertainty around our wedding, I ended up

cutting it too close to order one with the lead time. When it came down to

the wire, there was a huge mix up with the lehenga I had on deck to wear for

the wedding, and the KYNAH team accommodated me the MONDAY, yes, MONDAY, before my wedding to come try things on at their pop up in LA. 

I am still emotional thinking about how genuine and kind Aisha and

Simran were, and the honest feedback they gave me on what did and didn't

work (you need this, as a bride!! They really helped me pick the best

options for me, my style, and body type). I will forever be grateful for

the KYNAH team for such care and consideration when I was in need, and it

is a dress I will cherish forever. 

Our venue, The Fig House, is a quintessential Los Angeles style building

with many art deco nods. The beading and pattern on the Avani Lehenga are

beautiful ways to honor and reflect this traditional Los Angeles style with

Indian flair. I could not love it more. 

My husband and I met a decade ago when I had first graduated from college

and I was working at my first job in LA. We were coworkers and had to keep

our relationship a secret, but, needless to say, it didn't stay secret for

long. We had some dear friends from those work days attend our wedding and

are forever grateful for those humble beginnings which really helped our

relationship blossom. 

Having met in LA and given our strong affinity for design, we wanted a

venue that felt like us, but elevated. The Fig House pairs vibrant colors

and art deco design alongside a lush LA vibe, so we played off these themes

for a colorful, California Indian wedding. 

This wedding. Hands down. While we got married on our original wedding day

in October 2020 in my parent's backyard, we were unable to celebrate this

milestone with all of our family and close friends due to the pandemic.

While October 24th will be the day we tied the knot, this wedding on

July 3rd made everything feel so much more real with the blessing of our

family and friends present. We wrote our Saptapadi (Seven Steps taken to

solidify marriage in a Hindu wedding) for our ceremony in October in lieu

of vows, but the pandit forgot to use them lol! So, for this wedding,

we placed each of the seven steps we wrote on notecards and taped them

under random seats in the crowd. This way, we could have audience

participation to read each step out loud prior to re-taking them together

to celebrate our union in front of our closest friends and family. We also

had a quick handful of Sangeet style dances after our "ceremony" and those

two elements together made for a unique celebration in a special place that

felt very much like us.
