I had a wonderful experience with KYNAH. Since I’m based in NYC and was doing long distance with my now-husband, my availability was limited but the team made it work seamlessly. I can be quite particular when it comes to design, but when I visited in person, the stylist I worked with quickly understood my vision. She offered thoughtful suggestions for customizing the Seema Gujral lehenga I had my eye on, accommodating both my preferences and my family's input. When it came to finding an outfit for Tim, KYNAH was just as helpful by curating options that matched mine beautifully, whether in-person or online.
What stood out to you the most about your outfit from KYNAH? How did you know it was the one for you?
I loved the particular shade of red - it was a beautiful way to honor our culture, but was still modern by being a deeper shade of red. The embroidery work was also beautiful. Knowing that I could customize the blouse to what would make me comfortable was what sealed the deal!
We met in medical school in NYC almost a decade ago and about 1 year into school we entered into a relationship, not realizing we would be in it for the long haul. Fast forward, we have been together for several years and doing long distance for a few years due to our medical training, however we made it work! 2 years ago my family was coming to meet his family in California. Under the guise of attending a fake "birthday party" he proposed to me on a lake in his parent's hometown. Both of our families were there to greet us after the proposal and we celebrated together for the next couple of days. It was incredibly special to witness our South Indian and Egyptian families coming together and connecting so naturally.
What was your favorite part of your wedding? How did you make the wedding personal to you?
My favorite part of the wedding was the cultural fusion aspect. For the ceremony, we had a traditional Coptic Orthodox Christian wedding, but also managed to incorporate a couple of key elements of Indian Orthodox weddings. During the reception, our entrance was us coming out to an Egyptian song in Indian outfits (from KYNAH!) with live Egyptian drummers, followed by Indian dances performed by our multicultural wedding party. It was so important to us to thoughtfully blend our backgrounds through these moments. One of our favorite personal touches? A Chick-fil-A station with our go-to order—Tim introduced me to the spicy chicken sandwich and I’ve been hooked ever since!
If you and your husband could have invited any celebrity to your wedding, who would it be and why?
Probably someone who could really bring the energy with a live performance—someone like Diljit Dosanjh or Dua Lipa!
